Peggy Suzuki
Lina, Creator, Script Adapter, Music

While at Columbia College in Chicago, Peggy worked on inspiring projects like 4AM America originated by internationally acclaimed artist, Ping Chong and performed in the original poetry/multimedia performance Talking to the Sun with original score by William Russo. Other original college performances include pieces about Emily Dickinson and Gertrude Stein.

After graduating, Peggy moved to California where she performed in San Francisco and Los Angeles and regionally prior to living in New York where she studied at The National Shakespeare Conservatory. It was there that she met her mentor, Joan Evans, who directed her class in the original piece, Blue Roofs. "She encouraged us to find or create pieces of text relating to travel. The whole show evolved from place to place through movement modes of transportation."

During Peggy's New York life, she met and worked William Electric Black on adaptations and original pieces such as Romeo & Juliet Tribal Rock Musical, Words from the Civil Rights Movement and Doo Wop Dracula at La Mama Etc. Other acting highlights include the title role in Miss Margarida's Way, Hair, Good Woman of Setzuan and Twelfth Night.

All these experiences gave me a chance to bring my voice to the work in a deeper way. I wanted to do a women's play and tell women's stories and name it RANT. My director friend referred me to the poem entitled RANT by Diane di Primac"Bring yr self home to yrself, enter the garden the guy at the gate w/the flaming sword is yrself . The only war that matters is the war against the imagination" and the seeds for RANT were planted.

Yasu was born in Nagoya, Japan. He started his career playing many characters in sketch comedies on the live Japanese hit TV variety show GOJISATA Magazine. 1988-1991. The show had 10 million viewers every Saturday evening.
In 1991, he moved to New York City. He started dancing in New York as well as acting. He is trained by dancing legends such as Phil Black, Robert Tucker and Ann Reinking and has been dancing in musical shows such as A Chorus Line, La Cage Aux Folles, and The King & I. Since then, he's been acting, dancing, singing, writing, directing, making films and appearing on television. His favorite work on the legit stage includes playing the drunken Korean poet KREGO in The Gold Standard at the Irish Arts Center and Young Fellow in The Summer Festival-A Mirror of Osaka at The Lincoln Center Festival 2004.

His favorite work in film includes playing Sushi Chef in Puccini for Beginners directed by Maria Maggenti and his directorial debut short film, For Marlon.

His original character, Tamayo in RANT was inspired by his grandmother's experience and Lucy Foo, the drag queen was inspired by his experience playing in La Cage Aux Folles with professional drag queens.

He says "Peggy is a classically trained actor. She has an exquisite sense and talent with verbal creation. She came up with fun rhymes and poetry and gave this play an original rhythm. I, on the other hand, am good with putting current issues that need to be expressed and creating visual images on stage. It was also a huge challenge for me to collaborate with someone else. Together, I think we did a pretty good job."

Key
Music

Key was born in Nagoya, Japan. He started his music at the age of 15 and was in a rock band. From the beginning, he always created his music in English. In 1991, Key organized the rock band, Jonny Favoritz. In 1997, their first album was Monkey Plays. In 1999, Key came to New York City and started singing on the subway platforms.

He says, "I'm so glad that I've been singing my original songs in English. I can feel the audience's true reaction, especially when I play something they recognize. I'm so touched when I see tears in their eyes by listening to my music and my songs. I want to continue creating original songs." In the near future, he would like to bring members of Johnny Favoritz to New York City and work on the band again. Recently, he had a chance to record his songs and shoot a video. "My first intention for participating in RANT was just to play additional live music, but my creativity got totally vibed. I'm deeply involved now. I'd like to keep getting involved with the project. Sometimes I feel that it's tough being Asian in New York City, but every feeling I've been through is motivation to express more of myself."
